Bolanle Austen-Peter’s The Bling Lagosians has hit a big box office milestone, crossing the ₦100 million mark after spending just five weeks in the theatres. The film, a love-letter to the 1% of the 1% of Lagos’ upper-class, joins an elite group including Chief Daddy, King of Boys, and Merry Men to surpass the ₦100 million mark.

This milestone also makes The Bling Lagosians the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2019 yet. The film has earned ₦104 million while still showing at 42 locations nationwide. In June, we reported on the highest grossers in the country, that list was topped by WAPTV’s Knockout, which grossed a measly ₦26 million. A few Nollywood films have since topped that figure; Kunle Afolayan’s Mokalik has so far grossed ₦46 million and Tade Odigan’s Gold Statue made ₦30 million.
