Burna Boy channels his Afrobeats roots on new single, Gbona

Burna Boy goes way back to the 80s to resurrect the original Afrobeat sound that gave birth to the revamped sound we all vibe to today to deliver an intense mid tempo record aptly titled Gbona that serves as a thirst quencher for his fans who have been demanding new music since the boundless artiste went on tour.

Burna Boy delivers the jazzy pulsating energy the prior generation danced to under the influence of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s saxophone led controversial music by cloning the magnetic soundscape of base rhythms brought on by traditional drums and classic keys punctuated by faded guitar chords that give credence to his vernacular flavored monologue alluding the reception of his unique sound and articulated in his signature gruff vocals.

Gbona is a much more vintage effort and the choice to experiment sonically reminds us why Burna Boy was so fresh in the first place.
