Cassper Nyovest’s Ksazobalit Video Is About Black Reclamation of Land

Cassper Nyovest in Ksazobalit video

In March, one of our favorite South African artists Caspper Nyovest released some explosive material – K’sazobalit. This song played the role of a theme song to many of our Friday nights and his Nike Marathon experience – one where he impressed himself and us all by beating his set record.

We eagerly awaited the release of the video and well, it’s errrr unexpected. With the title and lyrics of the song translating to things continuing being increasingly exciting (or more literally – lit), the video is, like I said unexpected. First of all, it was released on Freedom Day and had a message centred on black people reclaiming land.

It shows Cassper in visibly uncomfortable and psychologically scarring short shorts for all parties involved, as he danced in and drove a tractor through a farm land. This is asides the occasional group of dancers with their very basic choreography, all happening to the perturbation of a white farmer. Despite its lukewarm delivery, the intent and message of the video enjoyed a lot of attention especially from the Economic Freedom Fighters, and its leader Julius Malema took to Twitter to appreciate Cassper for his effort.
