Catch Top-Quality Basketball at CBL Africa’s 5 Star Game Weekend in Lagos

Two dominant professional basketball leagues exist in Nigeria, the DSTV Basketball League reigned supreme for a while before the African Basketball League set in and recently rebranded as the Continental Basketball League. This weekend, the dark horses begin what they tag May Madness which shall see 19 games take place across West Africa with the lion’s share of games being hosted at Teslim Balogun in Lagos before heading on to Cameroon for a run of games, returning back to Lagos for the All-Star Weekend and then finally heading to Libreville, Gabon for the Championship games.

The League which launched in 2015, currently features six teams but has plans to expand its tentacles beyond the four West African countries where all its teams are situated today.  Hopefully, with time CBL can become more competitive and draw in teams from some of Africa’s better basketballing countries like Angola before taking its place as the premier basketball league on the continent and creating a system that allows African players begin careers on the continent before moving on to the NBA.
