D’Banj taps Wande Coal and Harrysong for ‘It’s Not a Lie’

Today, acts like Wizkid and Davido boast features with the likes of Drake, Chris Brown and some of the world’s biggest musicians but ahead of them was D’Banj and Don Jazzy who paved the way with a Snoop Dogg collaboration, Kanye co-signs and a GOOD Music deal. Since then, the two acts have gone their separate ways, Don Jazzy establishing arguably Nigeria’s best run record label at the moment, Mo Hits and D’Banj setting up DB Records which has failed to hold its ground in today’s scene. D’Banj has slowly retreated from the music scene and become more of a brandsman boasting relationships with the likes of Ciroc and Slot. Before completely backing off the scene though, the Kokomaster will share what most signify will be his final studio album, King Don Come. Tracks like Emergency make the cut as well as Oliver Twist and Top of the World, tracks from 2012 and 2013 respectively which serve as bonus singles. It’s Not a Lie is the first track on the album and it sees D’Banj collaborate with Wande Coal and Harrysong.

The video for It’s Not a Lie was shot in LA and starts off with a press conference where D’Banj touches on African music and the world coming to appreciate it before sort of flashing back on his identity. The track sounds like an effort we are served for Governorship campaigns and we are told about how the world is feeling D’Banj.
