At the start of the year, Rihanna was part of a delegation representing Clara Lionel Foundation, Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education which set out on a journey to Malawi. The pictures which made their way to social media were well received and the disdain normally associated with Western humanitarian efforts in Africa was seemingly absent.
We are now presented with footage which better explains the efforts in Malawi and shows some of the experiences from the trip. The short video lets us in on some of the problems caused by poverty and viewers are given a first person perspective of the challenges many experience.
It’s particularly interesting to see that in Malawi, indigenous languages are employed in school, a move Nigeria is set to take in the near future. The video is inspirational in some regard as it shows the perseverance and hope for the future that the students exude.
