DSS Arrest Terrorists’ Spy

Posted on

The Department of State Services (DSS) in liaison with the NAIA aviation security services at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, arrested a 14-year-old boy for spy networking with terrorists according to This Day.

In a release signed by the DSS, the arrest was made during routine checks, which revealed a spy network that is said to have been set up by the Boko Haram terrorist organisation. The 14-year-old, Sulaiymon Abdulraman, admitted under arrest that he infiltrated the airport under the instructions of a man named Dauda Sadiq, who told him to carefully observe the installations in the airport and pass him information regarding passenger screening, boarding procedures and general processes in the arrival and departure halls.

As of now, no further information has been released regarding the network that was set up, but this definitely calls for a state of emergency. The DSS have asked for all citizens to remain vigilant and security-conscious, urging the public to report all suspicious behaviour.

But exactly how many incidents have occurred this year regarding Boko Haram in Nigeria? Here are a couple headlines following this years attacks:

  • The Baga Massacre, Boko Haram’s “deadliest massacre”.

Since 2009, over 13,000 citizens have been killed by Boko Haram. Most attacks have taken place in North-Eastern Nigeria, but few attacks have occurred within the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding states. The idea of Boko Haram plotting an attack on Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport has alarmed the Federal Government and one can only hope that the military achieve their task within the three month deadline presented by President Buhari, otherwise death tolls will continue to rise.
