Eri Ife and Remy Baggins ‘YLLW EP’ Will Leave You Longing For Further Collaborations

Releasing music is always a risk, it’s even more of one when you go ahead to release a collaborative project with an artist you’ve never collaborated with. It’s almost unheard of, however, the convention does not have any effect on artist-producer, Remy Baggins and Ibadan based, Eri Ife who have gone ahead to release a delightful five track EP titled ‘YLLW.’

Yeah is the perfect introduction to the tape and shows off most of what you can expect over the following 15 minutes, an interesting blend of instruments, the interpolation of Yoruba and English and altogether a vibe.

The second record off YLLW, B’Ori Pe is a promise to themselves to always focus on the music. They chart the journey so far, the downs which include dropping out for music and dealing with the words of the naysayers which included family members. Just the type of record you need to remind yourself that there’s always more you should be doing.

Considering it’s already a pretty short project, I’d have preferred to hear more from Eri Ife and Remy Baggins, however, they give Sir Bastien a second of the attention. Different feel, quality still.

There’s a little playful war of the cities that ensues on My City, Remy Baggins is repping Lagos and he shows love to all the varying nooks and crannies, Las Gidi’s energy and waters. Eri Ife’s Ibadan bred and proud and urges the people to patronise his city for its relative calm in sharp contrast to Lagos’. Featured artist, Bryan The Mensah invites the people to Accra and touts its uniqueness as its selling point. Easily the most creative record on the EP, eternal vibe. Lagos > Accra + Ibadan sha.

The EP’s closes with YLLW and sees Remy Baggins and Eri Ife close on an inspirational vibe. They are reflective and we can tell as we hear ‘so much more’ throughout touching on the future and what they have in store.

Interesting body of work that’ll definitely leave you wanting some more music from this duo.
