Funbi Finally Debuts Long Awaited EP; Serenade

Ever since he appeared on The Collectiv3’s debut project; The Collectiv3 LP a prelude to his acclaimed hit and break out single; Hallelujah that afforded him award nominations, Funbi whose smooth crooning and penchant for genre traversion which sets him apart from the average R and B singer injected himself into the Nigerian soul music scene gradually inducting and acclimatizing us to his blend of sweet, slow music.

After about four years of skirting around the industry; he debuts his first ever EP; Serenade; a 7 track compilation of mellow, mid and uptempo songs in which Funbi exerts his velvety but gripping vocals that project the best of his pen muscle going over a variety of relatable love themed narratives swimming in a mix of synthy, funky grooves that flirts sweetly with the crevices of his listeners mind.

Borrowing the bustling and dramatic influence of Seyi Shay, Efya and a host of foreign genres, Funbi croons through a poetic mood inducing sequence that are suggestive as the track titles. Not that we expected anything less but Serenade is as rousing as the first hit of Funbi’s vocals in the EP and its title demonstrates. All in all, its an impressive rendition of elite love themes and we hope it serves as a pace setter to an onslaught of similar and better offerings.
