INEC President, Attahiru Jega in a press conference today announced that the 2015 general elections have now been postponed from February 14th till March 28th and governorship elections moved to April 11th.

INEC proposes that the elections should be moved due to the inability of security officials to provide adequate security for both INEC staff and observers during the elections.

INEC is working off promises from security agencies to step up their fight against Boko Haram and return the country to normalcy within six weeks.

Attahiru Jega on behalf of INEC claims that they will keep to their promise of providing free and fair elections however, many people seem to be fed up with the process and are unhappy by the postponement of the elections.

INEC has also announced that PVC collection will continue throughout states.

APC have asserted that regardless of the election postponement they are confident of victory come March 28th.

PDP Chairman, Ahmadu Adamu Muazu in a tweet claimed that the party will continue to support INEC in its quest to conduct free and fair elections.
