Kelechi: The Nigerian-American rapper about to have everyone reachin’

Atlanta based Nigerian-American rapper, Kelechi is about to have the everyone reachin’ with the quality of music he keeps churning out. Courtesy of a $50,000 prize for a rap contest sponsored by Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound, Kelechi was able to bring his sophomore project, Before The Quarter to life after he dropped out of Georgia State University and started rapping out of the basement at home.

Before The Quarter is a combination of letters that Kelechi wrote to himself as well as to his listeners and morphs into a very personal and relatable body of work.

Before The Quarter is home to tracks like Advice, Immigrant Son, Forbidden Fruit, Bet, Reachin’ and Pretend which speak about a host of issues including Kelechi’s struggles as an immigrant in the US, discovering oneself, dealing with fame and addressing the opinions of “they.” Altogether, the album is a complete body of work which will definitely leave you wanting more.

Features includes the likes of BJ The Chicago Kid, Trinidad James, Mike Golden, Dre of Levi Johnson, Ikey, Phay & Ezi to name a few, with production from Josh Porter, Rascal, L3NO, Nate Fox, Peter Cottondale, Will Hill, & Kelechi himself.

Kelechi’s repertoire is fully stacked and he has the ability to rap, sing and produce which is beneficial seeing as versatility never let anyone down and continues to grow as an artist. In the past year, he has gone on tour with Chance The Rapper, Action Bronson and Cyhi The Prince and continues to grow his following. With the quality of music being created, breaking out of the underground bubble cannot be far off.
