On Saturday the 3rd of November 2018, Lagos riveted with pure energy at ART X Live! the dynamic visual art and live music show of ART X Lagos. The show explored Africa’s rich musical history with performing artists including; Ghanaian singer; Amaarae, BOJ and Teni The Entertainer, who paid homage to some of their favourite songs by African Legends by delivering performances that not only captured the timelessness of these songs that carry a classic resonance but reworked them to flow seamlessly with the sonic dictates of this era.
The contemporary era conscious, percussion centric rendition of these time transcending stand out tracks delivered by the sonically phenomenal trio who have been breaking bounds in the industry with hits like Askamaya, Fluid, Bill Up among others was nothing short of synergistic as they bodied the personalities of the musicians whose songs they performed and in turn poured out these well aged sounds to us utilizing Odunsi (The Engine)’s instrumental arrangement of a variety of jazzy, bass grooves conniving with bluesy and frenetic guitar chords, soft keys among others that are as unique as their individual performances.
