Lupita Nyong’o to Produce and Star in ‘Born A Crime’, A Film Adaption of Trevor Noah’s Book

On Wednesday, via her Instagram, Lupita Nyong’o shared that she will produce and star in Born a Crime, a film adaptation of Trevor Noah’s memoir. Noah’s book was published in 2016 by Spiegel & Grau and it won the James Thurber Prize for American humour and two NAACP Image Awards. The South African comedian and author’s book spent 26 weeks on the bestseller list when it was published. Trevor’s untitled follow-up memoir has also been bought by Random House and will be published on November 13.

Lupito Nyong’o played the role of Nakia, a member of T’Challa’s personal guard in pop culture phenomenon, Black Panther. The actress thrust the limelight when her performance in 12 Years a Slave earned her an Oscar. She is also going to star in Chimamanda Adichie’s bestseller Americanah alongside Nigerian actor, David Oyelowo.
