After the release of Toke Makinwa’s book ‘On Becoming’, which told the story of her relationship with her ex-husband Maje Ayida, the Nigerian media personality has been asked to stop the selling of the book and all methods of promotional activities.

The appeal was made by Maje Ayida, whose lawyers have apparently sent the media personality, a ‘letter of demand.’

In the book, Toke Makinwa accused Maje Ayida of giving her sexually transmitted diseases, being a chronic cheat and committing adultery.

The legal documents describe the book as “exaggerated fabrication” which contained “defamatory words”. It instructed Makinwa to “withdraw from circulation all copies of the book and take immediate steps to call in all copies of the book already distributed and deliver up same at the place to be agreed upon by our client for destruction.

The letter also said a failure by the celebrity to take back the words said in the book, and give a full page apologizing to Maje Ayida in three national newspapers will lead to the commencement of legal action.

The Cable Lifestyle reports that Maje Ayida has hired law firms in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria to handle the case. Toke Makinwa was given seven days from the time she received the letter to fulfill with the demands or they would be forced to pursue legal redress.

The warning letter was said to have been delivered to Toke Makinwa on Monday, December 23, 2016.
