Reggie POPular Demand

There seems to be no shortage of rappers spilling out their emotions to us through their lyrical content all thanks to hip hop’s biggest softie, Drake.

Between heartbreaks and jump starting a very promising musical career, Nigerian-born rapper Reggie also known as Sabi Boy, does a good job of wearing his heart on his sleeve in a rather unique and upbeat manner on his latest EP, POPular Demand.

The 4-track EP is brilliant of mash of soft, laid-back afrobeats and dancehall, heavily influenced by the Ghanaian and Nigerian sound.

Opened with ‘Ring On it’, this song can be stated to be one of the EP’s epic moments in terms of delivery. With sonic traces of Runtown’s ‘Mad Over You’, Reggie submerged in a well balanced variation of Nigerian-Ghanaian music with an urban feel to it, a love ballad.

Reggie pairs dancehall instrumentals finessed with Entyce’s melodic keys, bass drums and electro synths with sappy rastafarian inspired lyrics and edgy ad libs to project his desire for a muse that has him hooked on the track ‘Fire Dancer’.

In ‘Odoo’ and ‘Summertime’, we hear the rapper emphasize his longing for a girl who has left a large imprint on his heart as well as sing praises for his love interest.
