Ronaldo at 30

Posted on

From growing up in the streets of Santo Antonio to becoming the greatest athlete of his generation, Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to show us the benefits of consistent hard work and dedication. He is now 30, which is very hard to believe seeing as I, and many others my age watched him grow from a scrawny, stringy-haired male, to the greatest athlete of his generation in the space of 12 years. Cristiano is currently  a 3 time Ballon D’or champion, and is still trying to break more Real Madrid, and Portuguese records in 2015 after having an excellent 2014 campaign in which he won the Champion League .

Ronaldo throughout his career has been arguable the main “highlight reel” in sports entertainment. From his stunning goal against FC Porto on April 15 2009

Ronnie’s Achievements…

Cristiano’s next couple of achievements after his excellent 2008 season was winning the Ballon D’or, winning the premier league with Manchester United, and consequently earning a record breaking move to Los Blancos for 80 million pounds in which at the conclusion of the season he won the Ballon D’or again.

Ronaldo also provided one of the most clutch moments of his eventful career when he scored a hattrick on November 19 2013, in which he knocked Zlatan and the Swedish out of world cup qualifiers and clinched the last stop for the 2014 World Cup that Brasil hosted.

Last season, broke the Uefa Champions League record with 17 goals in one season. This achievement was widely appreciated by numerous sports’ critics and players all around the sports’ news, and vibrant social media application, Twitter.

This season,Cristiano has scored 28 goals in 19 appearances, hence  he is on pace to break his personal best of 46 goals in one La Liga season. Also, he currently has 23 La Liga hat-tricks, another record, surpassing DI Stefano, Zarra, and Leo Messi

Although, his birthday celebration was a milestone, Atletico Madrid came to spoil the party over last weekend with a 4-0 spanking at the Vincent Calderon stadium.

Going forward..

Many people question when his play will start to deteriorate, and according to my research it already has. With age obviously coming to factor, critics have been praising Cristiano’s stellar season due to his amazing ratio of goals to game. However, I am not convinced, I believe with the acquisition of the lightening Welshman, Bale, and Colombian hero, James Rodriguez, his role on the team has diminished.

After carefully analyzing his style of play in the last 18 months, Ronaldo has played “smarter football” with the sense he now plays more like a poacher, which results in his increase in goals. Although, his dribbling and long-range scoring has suffered as a result. He is t more predictable, and doesn’t take players on as he did in his Man Utd career and his first four seasons at Madrid.

This must be a slight concern for him, and Ancelotti, but I believe with the key injuries in the current squad, he would be relied on a lot more. Also, we all know he would want to battle against his red hot rival, Lionel Messi whom must be looking to win his 5th Ballon D’or this year.

Ronnie,  we appreciate all that you have achieved thus far, and we are looking forward to the excellent latter part of your sensational career. Happy 30th birthday celebration.
