MTV’s Shuga Is Back In Lagos For Season 6

After filming the third and fourth season of Shuga in Nigeria, MTV is back to Nigeria for the sixth season of millennial themed drama series. In the last two seasons filmed in Nigeria, it featured Tiwa Savage, Adesua Etomi, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, and Emmanuel Ikubese before moving to South Africa for its fifth season. Olumide Oworu, Timini Egbuson Sharon Ezeamaka, and Jemima Osunde will replay their roles while new faces like Emeka Nwagbaraocha and Uzoamaka Aniunoh will join the cast.

Since first airing in November 2009, MTV Shuga has reached over 720 million people, showed on 179 channels and screened in over 61 countries. The show has been a multimedia campaign on sexual behaviour, tolerance and gender-based violence.

MTV Shuga Season 6 will leave you on the edge of your seats with unique performances from some of Nigeria’s biggest movie stars like veteran actor Nobert Young, the vivacious Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Kannywood superstar Rahama Sadau, popular TV presenter Bolanle Olukanni, Northern-based on-air personality Ladani Sulaiman and Kannywood actor Yakubu Mohammed,” a statement reads.

The show, which focuses on the lives of young African millennials as they navigate through adolescence, has been broadcast in over 61 countries across the world, showing on 179 channels and reaching over 720 million people. Season six has the award-winning writer and filmmaker Chris Ihidero as Director and further features Tope Oshin, Tolulope Ajayi and Ishaya Bako.

Leila’s has an intriguing change in attitude and we wonder if she’s above Weki’s league now. Princess has a baby and Tobi seems to be cooler than we left him. The new season will start airing on MTV Base West and other local TV stations on the 6th of March and we can’t wait!
