Steph Curry Won’t Let You Forget About Him

Throughout the season, we’ve had several narratives bubbling in the NBA. There’s LeBron, the defending champion, having one of his best regular seasons in recent years. Then you have Westbrook and all his triple doubles. James Harden has been set free under Mike D’Antoni. Utah Jazz has been putting together a solid season with Rudy Gobert anchoring their defense. Kawhi has upgraded to his best self and has become a MVP candidate this year. The league’s young talent has really shown itself this year, with Jokic, Karl Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid (when he’s on the court… Trust the Process), Porzingis all changing what it means to be a big man in today’s NBA. There’s Giannis, a seven foot small forward who handles the ball like a point guard and has led the Bucks to 5th seed at 22. Don’t forget Isaiah Thomas (aka the King in the Fourth) who has led the Celtics to the first seed in the East. And of course, the three constants in life – death, taxes and the Spurs having a 50-win season. With all that’s happened this season, I won’t be surprised if you’ve forgotten about a certain light skin famous for his three pointers.

Steph Curry. Remember him? The defending two-time MVP who made over 400 threes last year? It makes sense that Steph Curry hasn’t been on your mind giving how great this season has been and the significant drop off from his stellar year, last season. Also, Golden State adding Kevin Durant during the offseason and becoming the NBA’s villains overnight has reduced the usually great media coverage he enjoyed. But right now, Steph Curry is on a campaign to remind everyone who he is. The Warriors played the Rockets, the Spurs and then the Rockets again. The Spurs game was the night right after the first Rockets game. The Warriors won all three games comfortably, even coming back against the Spurs from 22 points down. The Steph Curry that showed up was reminiscent of 2016 Curry, dropping dagger threes and slicing up defenses.  Did I mention that this was without Kevin Durant? When Durant first got injured, the Warriors were in a rough place. People started to question if the Warriors would struggle to make it out of the first round of the playoffs without Durant. Let’s just say no one is saying that anymore.

Now this is what we’re all thinking

So yeah, Steph Curry is still Steph Curry and oh yes, their seven foot tall small forward who can shoot at 50-40-90 splits and is probably be the best scorer in the NBA will be back soon. Right in time for the playoffs. Yay.
