Tiwa Savage Takes To The Streets To Celebrate A Successful Year In ‘One’ Video

Staying relevant in a society that frowns at ageing women in Pop, Single Mothers and Women who are unashamed of their sexuality is a big task that carries an unmerited facade. Pop stars like Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton can attest to this after all people began to wean themselves off their sultry voices and soulful renditions when ‘newer’ models like Beyonce began to troop in to the scene.

At home here in Nigeria, Tiwa Savage is a shining example of Women in music who bear the brunt of being on the receiving end of Sexism in a largely Patriarchal music industry but many things are different with Tiwa Savage and foremost of all is her determination and passion for music. This year, we witnessed the Afropop Queen take on an abundance of hate because of her involvement in certain movements and situations but like the Queen that she is, she scaled through and when it came to reaping the benefits of her hard-work in form of laurels which she received as a Pioneer, she celebrated with a song detailing the timeline of a successful year titled One. Today, after a couple of weeks, she shares the video for the Killertunes produced record.

Like every successful Nigerian obsessed with the juxtaposition of the privileged and not so privileged, she takes to the rural Suburb of Osoroko Community, Lekki to celebrate her tough but yielding come up and while the landscape and scenic beach views contribute to the realistic view she tries to push, her expressions are the true representation of her journey these past few years.

While Tiwa might have taken routes not everyone agrees with, the fact remains that she is indeed a force to reckon with.
