The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has described the ongoing shutdown of activities in Abuja for the World Economic Forum as illegal.

The government ordered that all its offices and private organisations with large number of members to stop activities for the duration of the Forum.

The Forum which is hosting world leaders, starts on Wednesday and ends on Friday.

Gbajabiamila, in a statement through his research aide, Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart, stated that “This government continues to falter at every turn and gets it wrong on daily basis,”

“The World Economic Forum had been held over the years in other cities without the cities being shut down.”

“What the government has done in effect is to declare Wednesday to Friday as public holiday in violation of the Public Holidays Act.”
