Hope for a Better Nigeria

The country I grew up in is not the same. It seems like things have gone from bad to worse. The system is more messed up than we met it and it seems like the dream for a better Nigeria is farfetched.

Funny I mentioned dream.

A lot of the young people in my generation don’t dream again. A better Nigeria? The dream right now is to survive. To be able to live in a system that is broken from head to toe. Corruption exists in the corridors of power and on the streets of Mushin. From the seat of the lawmakers to the barber shop down the street. It has eaten to the core of our being and we wonder if there is a remedy.

How do we move from here? How do we restore the nation to its past glory. How do we ensure that the mistakes our fathers and their fathers made will not be repeated.

All we need to do now is hope.

No it is not farfetched. It can’t be because if we lose hope, we are inadvertently saying goodbye to the possibility of a better Nigeria.

In the end, maybe the future of Nigeria is worth fighting for after all.
