Netflix Announces First Original African Series “Queen Sono”

Media streaming gaints, Netflix, have announced the commission of it’s first original African series. This is coming months after the company’s acquisition of the world rights to Genevieve Nnaji’s directorial debut, Lionheart.

The series titled “Queen Sono”, will be created by director, Kagiso Lediga and executive producer Tamsin Andersson. It will also star South Africa’s radio personality, model, television host and actress, Pearl Thusi. The former Quantico actress took to her Twitter to share her excitment with her fans and followers.

Kelly Luegenbiehl, Netflix’s Vice President of International Originals for Europe and Africa, shared their excitment to collaborate with Kagiso and Pearl with Independent Online South Africa  “We love the team behind the show, [and] we’re passionate about coming in and doing something that feels fresh and different. It’s really exciting for us,”

Queen Sono will launch in 190 countries in 2019.
