Andela just announced its $100m Series D raise

Andela, the software developer training and outsourcing company that has gained a reputation as one of the biggest success stories of the Nigerian technology ecosystem announced that it closed a $100 million Series D round.

The round was led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore’s sustainability-focused investment firm, Generation Investment Management, bringing Andela’s venture capital haul to date to $180 million. Existing investors like the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, GV (Google Ventures), Spark Capital, and CRE Venture Capital also participated in the raise.

Andela which started out of a duplex in Nigeria now operates in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. The company plans on spreading itself across the continent and also increasing the size of its engineering talent pool.
