Considering Blackmagic’s gone off the radar since his break out in 2011, his evolution as a nonconforming artist has been interesting to observe. He has subtly sought to make a comeback via Bad Intentions. However, he returns with a surprise 7-track EP titled BM.
Being a collection of “ejay’s expressions”, the project comes off as sonic projection of his riotous thoughts – though crisply articulated, well-produced, mixed and mastered – with lines that read as soulful and intense but alluring and track titles that spell disinterest but are most likely codes for deeper subjects; considering the intensity of the artist.
While the tracks off BM are unlikely to be chart-toppers, the entirety of the project makes great listening.
