Falz and Demmie Vee capture the ills of society in ‘Hypocrite’ video

Falz ignited conversation in Nigeria early this year when he released his 9-track EP; Moral Instruction – a social awakening similar to Childish Gambino’s This Is America, a song he covered last year. With Moral Instruction and his weaponized lyrics key in each of the 9 songs, Falz takes on the role of a social justice warrior fighting some of the causes plaguing Nigeria and while the hype surrounding the project has receded, Falz still holds a key spot in our society, a spot he solidifies this week with the video for one of the stand out songs off the project, Hypocrite featuring Flyboy Inc’s Demmie Vee.

In the tragic and emotive video, Falz captures the ills of our society in a number of thought-provoking and awakening scenes led by some of Nigeria’s finest including Kate Henshaw and Ali Baba. Falz’s use of his art as a tool to tackle political, economical and social ills is not particularly new but in a society where it’s largely been rare, it is appreciated.
