Shipment of 440 guns from Turkey intercepted in Lagos

Late on Tuesday, Nigerian Customs officials intercepted a shipment of guns from Turkey at the Tin Can Island Port in Apapa, Lagos. Following a count, it was revealed that the shipment which filled a container included 440 arms and ammunitions of varying sizes.

According to he zonal commander, Tin Can Island command, Monday Abue, the container which had a registration number PONU 210024/1, was picked up following the gathering of intelligence. He then went on to reveal that investigations had already begun to unmask the importers of the pump action riffles which were manufactured in Italy and the USA.

With this interception, the count on number of shipments ambushed in the recent future rises to two following a January interception of over 600 guns from China.
