Rihanna is for sure on top of the game with the recent rollout of her FENTY Maison brand at the LVMH luxury goods collective, making her the first woman of colour to head an LVMH Maison.

Ahead of its online global launch still to come, the brand debuted in Paris last Friday with stellar pieces in the collection, Fenty has since then released a couple of images from its campaign shoot, shot by talented Nigerian-born photographer, Ruth Ossai.

Ossai, whose work is known for its portrait and studio photography that empowers Nigerian communities by creating narratives with her subjects placed against scenic and animated backdrops, will give the Fenty campaign a touch of old Nollywood. The combination we never thought we’ll see.

Fenty aired behind the scenes footage of another campaign. Using a variety of different scenes for the set design, some of the landscapes behind the Fenty-clad models looked surprisingly familiar, with Lagos and potentially other parts of Nigeria being used for the backdrops.

We are not sure if Ruth Ossai was involved in this shoot, but given the heavy Nigerian influence that radiated through the footage, it would come as no shock if she consulted or even photographed this shoot as well.

Some of her works include an editorial for Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales series using the Nollywood aesthetic to showcase the beauty of women in the industry which was released through Garage
