Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun was present on the Sunrise Daily Show at Channels TV yesterday morning.

She touched on issues like Nigeria’s strategy to develop facets of the economy and went on to claim that, when the Buhari-led government came into office inheriting the worst of both worlds considering that they came in to meet low oil prices as well as a relatively empty treasury.

She suggests that the government then looked back on the previous strategies and decided to rest the economy to ensure such does not repeat itself. The decision to reset the economy means the government shall look to diversify the economy and generate more revenue from other goods excluding oil.

Adeosun argues that this will secure Nigeria in future. She also claimed that the aim is to ensure government spends more on capital as opposed to recurring expenses like travelling and salaries. This is rather ironic considering President Buhari’s jetsetter lifestyle since coming into power last year.

She also speaks on government attempts to save under the Jonathan administration and how it shall be different this time.
