Izzy Odigie Launches “Eggplant Tour” In New York

After an on-stage freestyle dance performance of “Sitya Loss” with Ugandan star Eddy Kenzo, Izzy Odigie quickly became a must watch for Afrobeat fans. Taking the opportunity, Iggy went on to choreograph, perform and teach Afrobeat steps in multiple cities around the world.

Odigie’s style and interest in dance began during her time at boarding school in Nigeria where she participated weekly in freestyle break dance competitions. From constant engagement, she was able to develop a personal Afro-fusion style which is said to be “rooted in American hip-hop and African dance”. Izzy’s decision to pursue her long time passion and career however began in 2007 after she moved to the US and co-founded TRŸBE.

Her Eggplant Tour kicked off on September 24 in New York with additional dates in Philadelphia, D.C., Atlanta, and Chicago. More dates and cities will be announced in the coming months. Much like past performances and videos across TRŸBE’s YouTube channels, a heart racing experience is certain.

In conversation with Culture Custodian about what to expect from the Eggplant Tour, Izzy said:

“Expect to sweat, expect to step out of your comfort zone, and maybe we might have a couple special guests along the way (wink*)”
