Jidenna Builds On African Roots On ‘Zodi’ And ‘Sou Sou’

Barely a month since his return and a fortnight till the release of his album, Jidenna has taken a firm unrelenting stance to remain in the limelight. He shares another double dose of singles to usher in a project which according to its trailer will reshape orientations. Having already explored cultural and romantic themes on Sufi Woman and Tribe, he takes different routes on Zubi and Sou Sou which not only reflects his affinity for culturally influenced music but highlights his love for variety.

On Zodi which features Mr Eazi, Jidenna taps into his Nigerian side as he paints a sweet but chaotic romantic story over an Afrobeat inspired canvas dominated by engaging drums that will have you moving along to its rhythmic beats in no time.

Sou Sou takes an entirely different shape from Zodi. Much like Tribe, the Hip-hop trap hybrid leans on Jidenna’s Atlanta side prompting him to deliver the entire track in rap-like bits and with sensual bars.
