Labour to protest N27,000 minimum wage at National Assembly

Nigeria Labour Congress will today storm the National Assembly public hearing on the new National Minimum Wage Bill in order to press their demands for N30,000 as against the N27,000 which was forwarded to the NASS by the presidency last week.

The Central Working Committee of the NLC had in its last meeting expressed displeasure over the new minimum wage bill presented to NASS by the Federal Government instead of the N30,000 recommended by the tripartite committee that deliberated on the issue.

President of the union, Ayuba Wabba, indicated that NLC would not accept N27,000.

He said, “The CWC has rejected the issue of reducing the figure. We still stand on the outcome of the tripartite committee.

“We will mobilise our members and engage the National Assembly on the issue. We will mobilise our members to the House of Representatives during the public hearing on the bill to make sure that the right thing is done.”
