Mayorkun’s Reasserts Commitment to Demon Lifestyle on Tonight Cover

In the past year, Nonso Amadi has ascended rapidly within the Nigerian music scene despite never pandering to the more commercially viable route of pure Afropop music. As the days go by, his sound continues to push the envelope and now we see Mayorkun tap into the Nonso Amadi juice with a cover to his biggest track yet, Tonight.

Despite all the praise Amadi has gotten for this track, Mayorkun’s cover is the first we have ever received from any musician of note and is probably an effort we never needed. On Mayorkun’s part, covering Tonight, which is by a mile Amadi’s most popular track is an intelligent way to tap into Nonso Amadi’s market, which may be one of the places he struggles to pull supporters, without working on a collaboration. The result, however, is tough to appreciate considering its not as smooth as the original version and then the decision to shoot a video seems off. We however see Mayorkun and Nonso switch positions as Nonso chases helplessly after his girl on the original while Mayorkun channels his inner Yoruba demon on his cover.
