The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Bobboi Kaigama has revealed that the long anticipated amount for the nation’s new minimum wage, has been decided and will be announced by the early weeks of September.

Bobboi revealed in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) that a new amount agreed by the Federal Government and the labour will be unveiled in September.

The Trade Union leader, was however reported to have declined comment on the specificity of the day that the newly agreed amount would announced. He only assured that the announcement would be made next month.

‘The tripartite meeting is holding today but I do not want to preempt the outcome of the level we have reached in our discussions, otherwise there will be unnecessary anxiety.

‘ But by the end of August, I am assuring you that workers will know what the minimum wage will be.’ the TUC President said.

President Mohammodu Buhari, had in November 2017, inaugurated a 30-man committee to deliberate on a new minimum wage for the labour.

The announcement may signal an end to the prolonged negotiation between the Federal Government and the labour on the issue of minimum wage.
