OYINLOLA INSISTS HE REMAINS PDP NATIONAL SECRETARY

The controversial former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has warned the Peoples Democratic Party against using someone else’s signature as the national secretary of the party.

Oyinlola stated this at a PDP meeting in Osun State, attended by the PDP Chairman in Osun State, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa and supporters of the three governorship aspirants of the PDP in the state.

Oyinlola who’s election was nullified by an Abuja Federal High Court, was replaced by another indegene of Osun State, Prof. Olawale Oladipo.

However, the Court of Appeal set aside this verdict of the lower court and declared Oyinlola as the validly elected national secretary of the party but he has not been allowed to perform as the party’s scribe.

Oyinlola stated that he remained the legally recognised national secretary of the PDP, saying any document signed by anybody apart from him was void because such a signature would be illegal.

Oyinlola, who was part of the defunct New PDP which sprang up following a crisis at the party’s congress in August 2013, said that the opposition could use any document signed by another person as the secretary  of the party against the PDP in the law court.

“If anybody signs any document now as the national secretary of the PDP, such a document is not valid because I am the national secretary recognised by the law.”

“The opposition party could use such invalid documents against us in the future and by then it would be too late. I have not gone to any party and I will not defect to any party.  I am in the PDP and I am the secretary of the party. I will pursue the case to a logical conclusion.”

Oyinlola said that although he was part of the New PDP which sprang up following the PDP crisis, he however said that he and some other politicians, who were part of the group, refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress  when others dumped the PDP.
