Peruzzi Surpasses Underdog Status With Debut EP; Heartwork

For the longest time after his breakout single; Matter which was the catalyst that marked a new beginning in his career, Peruzzi was the underdog, DMW’s new sensation sweeping the industry clean with stellar features that became the norm after a while. However his unboxable range of compelling vocals and lyricism ensured the possibility of a solo career and today we are presented with the reality of years of hardwork in form of an 11-Track EP titled Heartwork which contrary to its content is dedicated to his Late Mother.

Notwithstanding his previous lack of a solo career, Peruzzi has become something like a crowd controller with stellar features on hits like Aza, Amaka, Mind among others so much so that whenever he graces any track with his input, we can’t help but rush to our devices to listen and seek out good times.

Perhaps it’s the extensive use of his captivating energy on collaborative efforts but Heartwork, though an EP is stretched thin on two theme; Love and Lust and typical Afropop sounds save for a few standouts like Majesty, Dina; a Dancehall gyration inspiration featuring Popcaan, Bleed; another Dancehall tinged R and B inspired track and Ola featuring Labelmate; Mayorkun, a song that caused quite the ruckus when he teased its release with a studio session clip months ago.

Being a debut EP, the apparent flaws present in Heartwork can be excused when juxtaposed with the vibrant production, lax but witty lyrics and signature vocals put together to birth the calmest of waves. Listen here.
