Reminisce’s Ponmile and All The Fuego Covers Yet

The original song Ponmile by Reminisce is divine and profound. It is exclusively sung in Yorba and is a song about, love, hustle and respect. The video, if you haven’t already seen it features the very brilliant Lota Chukwu and comical Odunlade Adekola (who shows us a whole other side). The video which is directed by Clarence Peters is simple, artistic and awe inspiring. All the song’s emotions are conveyed appropriately.

Since its release 2 months ago, a plethora of covers have been done for the song. The most recent is that done by the dearly beloved Chidinma. The singer, song-writer acquires the assistance of renowned instrumentalist Femi Leye on her cover. The plaintive rendition on his guitar makes all the difference in the world, and when accompanied by Chidinma, makes the already emotional song even more intense. The video directed by Lucas Ried however does not do or show much, and if we excuse the monotony, both artists do the song justice.

Hot on the heels of Chidinma’s cover is that of Aramide. With her video also directed by Lucas Ried, the impressive vocalist also recruits Femi Leye and in a collaborative effort to take the song in a whole different direction. Aramide offers her own unique rendition of this soulful song in English. It almost seems like in whatever form rendered, nothing can he taken away from the brilliance of the original song. If there is anything all 3 videos have in common is the simplicity of the plot and limitation of characters. Enjoy.
