The sun is out and shining bright, Summer 17 is here and so are we with events that we believe are worthy of note. We also helped out with forecasts of how much damage these different events will do to your wallet because money makes the world go round. We will update this post regularly as more events become available. Peace and Love.

Mr Eazi at the Shrine: July 8th @ New Afrika Shrine

Since the start of the year, Mr Eazi has toured the world with his first full length body of work. Crowds in the US and Europe have vibed to him and he shall now head home to conquer the shrine. Buy tickets here.

Party Politics 101: The Good, Bad & Ugly: July 8th @ MUSON 

Organized by Enough is Enough Nigeria, this event seeks to enhance our understanding of the Nigerian political climate based on the experiences of three different political participants.

They are;

Ayisha Osori ran for the Federal House of Represenatives in Abuja on the platform of the PDP in 2015. She has written a forthcoming book documenting her experience.

Bobo Omotayo ran for the Ogun State House of Assembly on the platform of the PDP in 2011. He wrote a part fictional and part factional account of the experience in a book titled The Honourable.

Akinyinka Akinnola ran for Governor of Ondo State on the platform of the APC in 2016.

It’ll be moderated by Feyi Fawehinmi.

Jerry Summer Soccer Camp: July 10th – July 14th (Session 1), July 17th – July 21st (Session 2). @ Children’s International School, Lekki

Soccer players between the age of 6 and 18 get the opportunity to train and interact with coaches from who have experience with Queen’s Park Rangers, Barcelona and more. There are two sessions- each one week long and shall feature mentoring sessions which supplement on the field play. To register, email [email protected] or [email protected]

AYOOLA by Ayoola Omogbolahan: June 11th – July 9th @ RELE Art Gallery

Visual artist, Ayoola Omogbolahan is hosting his first solo exhibition. His work centers around  around Abstract Landscape, Abstract Figuration, and Human Anthropology.

Pop Culture Africa 2017: July 12th @ Campos Mini Stadium

Music, fashion and art shall meet on the 12th of July at Campos Mini Stadium. We are currently 10 days away but clarity on the agenda is still distant. Lady Donli, Oma Mahmud, Wavy The Creator are some of the confirmed performers thus far. You can buy tickets here.

TEXPO: July 15th @ Julius Berger Auditorium, UNILAG

TEXPO is a technology exhibition that hopes to give stakeholders in the Nigerian technology ecosystem an opportunity to interact and showcase their works.

Eversion – A Spoken Word and Rap Musical: July 15th @ Lekki Coliseum

Rhyme and Reason, the group putting on Eversion was borne out of a desire to put spoken word poetry on its back. At Eversion, they shall also add rap into the mix. They shall host two two-hour shows at 3pm and 6pm as they take a stand against domestic violence.

Eko Fitness Festival: July 15th @ Muri Okunola Park

This event seems to be a mix of a primary school interhouse sports day and what today’s millennials want to do. Go back to your early days with that water cup race.

The Self Expression Exhibition: July 15th @ Bukka Hut

The name seems to say it all but the idea is for artists to express how they feel as individuals and show off work they believe makes them stand out as artists. The diversity of each artist’s work is a story of its own and artists like Fifo Adebakin, Chuka Nwobi, Will, Thompson Ekong, Jekein, Wami Aluko, Isabella Agbaje, R.O, SDQ and Lanaire Aderemi are scheduled to exhibit or perform.

The Getaway: July 15th @ The Truth Luxury Villa and Beach Club, Ilashe Island

Bankhead Lifestyle Company return with its Lagos Pool Party Series and intends on creating a blend of daytime and nighttime events. The DJ roster includes DJ Oluwabruce, DJ Shawty, DJ Michael Andre and DJ Debby.

Mente De Moda Midsummerversary: July 16th @B.I.C.S Garden

Previously scheduled for the 9th, Mente De Moda had to push back as a result of the disturbing showers of late. This is your event to find what small and mid-sized brands should be on your radars.

AestFest: July 21st @ Banana Island Park

Regresso Committee are hosting an event at Banana Island Park in a bid to raise money and awareness for underprivileged autistic children. The event shall feature food, music and fashion and take place from 1pm to 7pm.

Open With Titilope: July 16th & July 30th @ To Be Confirmed*

Titilope Sonuga featured in Ndani TV’s Gidi Up. However, she’s more famous for her work as a poet. This summer, she has decided to embark on a journey of poetry, truth and healing with three live shows.

UltraWaves Nights: July 8th, 15th, 22nd @ Nitro and 57 

DVB in collaboration with Garmspot and GidiGuide will host four nights across some of the top nightlife spots in Lagos Island on the 8th, 15th and 22nd at Nitro, 57 and Nitro respectively.

90s Baby Sound Off: July 28th @ The Underground

90’s Baby took to a new location in June. They also featured Wavy The Creator, SDC, Jinmi Abduls and many more.

Custodian Nights: July 29th @ Club 57

We returned for the Summer and decided that we might just be staying forever. June saw DJ Bristar, DJ Wayne, Deykss, Mufasa, N6, DJ Prince and DJ Dotwine. Let’s see what July has in store.

The Lemon Curd: August 5th @ Muri Okunola Park

Lucid Lemons are one of the groups who sit central to the the promotion of young creatives. Last year, they hosted their first Lemon Curd which featured acts like DJ Femo and Fasina prior to the attention they garnered this year. This year, they shall return with the second Lemon Curd. Look out for more information on performing acts.

Carpe Diem: August 13th @ Freedom Park

Lagos living is quite repetitive however, some are attempting to break the norm with an event that touches on different worlds. Carpe Diem intend on combining food, art, music and providing a wholesome experience.

Eat Drink Lagos @ To Be Confirmed*

This summer shall not feature another Eat Drink Festival however, we have word that we can expect something different from the good people at Eat Drink Lagos.

Industry Nite @ Spice Route* 

It’s a monthly event so you can probably expect it. In June they got Jesse Jagz, July we shall wait and see.
