Tomi Ogunnubi, the 12 year old Nigerian girl who developed an Android tracking app

Posted on

Tomi Ogunnubi is a 12 year old Vivian Fowler student who also happens to be the inventor of an app named My Locator which aims to help young kids who may be lost navigate their way back home.

The Android application which is free was made possible by Ogunnubi’s thoughtfulness and Vivian Fowler’s ICT collaboration with New Horizons Computer Learning Centre which gave the young lady the opportunity to create an app she had always dreamt of.

The app employs a ‘current location‘ setting which helps the child know where they are as well as the surrounding streets and furthermore the app allows the kids to save a location – like their house or school – and will direct them on how to get from wherever they are to that saved location.

Additonally, the app also has an ‘alert‘ button connected to the Lagos State Emergency Service number (767) and initiates a call as well as sends a message showing the child’s current location whenever pressed.

If you’re an Android user, you can download Ogunnubi’s app for free here.
