Vudumane has just released Jungle, presenting a case before naysayers. In this latest song, the artiste, who rose to fame since 2005, is unapologetic as he relives a big gotcha moment to spite his critics.
An Afrobeats song spiced with lively rhythms and catchy verses, Jungle is a testament of Vudumane’s resilience against setbacks. While the artist stirs up an infectious rhythm that encourages people to be positive about making it in life against all odds, his producer Khalifa makes the submission feel forceful like the aesthetics of a blockbuster movie. “Don’t worry. Vudu, time will tell. Don’t worry/Nobody. Matter don cast, I see nobody,” he sings in a catchy line that is energetic and believable. There are other such lines which resonate with audiences, transforming their struggles into triumphs. Through a mirror of his personal struggles, Vudumane encourages others to stay afloat and swim against the tides of life.
“Throughout my life, I have been underestimated by others who did not expect me to succeed because of my unconventional lifestyle and innovative approach to music. Now that I have proved myself, it is time to officially address such people and let them know how wrong they were,” says Vudumane.
Born to a Ghanaian father and Nigerian mother, Vudumane was raised in Accra, Ghana where he fell in love with music and sought inspiration from Ja Rule, 2pac, DMX, Lost Boys, MC Lyte and Jamaican acts. At age 11, he wrote and recorded on foreign beats, and started out professionally with the moniker ‘Nyankonton’. In 2005, his transformation came with the release of the hit Odo Wuo with Kwabena Kwabena and adoption of the now celebrated name ‘Vudumane’. His music style incorporates Ghanaian influences and other global rhythms, including Afrobeats and highlife sounds.
Whether Afrobeats or Amapiano, Vudumane’s breathtaking songs continue to expand his genre. With other songs, including Shoe Size, Boots, Somebody, Joy Walai, Oh No, Identity and On My Way, to his credit, his consistency distinguishes him as a genuine creative and formidable force in the African music scene.
Vudumane has collaborated with African acts like Zlatan, Davido, Selasi, among others. Apart from entertainment, he uses music for expression of identity and as a point of cultural exchange. A huge source of inspiration to peers and listeners, he continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of Afrobeats and influencing the world of contemporary music.
