Angelique Kidjo And Yemi Alade Are The Dream Team In Colorful Video For ‘Shekere’

It’s no secret Yemi Alade’s identity as a Nigerian superstar is deeply rooted in her African heritage which she chooses to flaunt every chance she gets. Her first to fourth albums are different variations of her African heritage and on Woman Of Steel we were lucky enough to get an advanced Mama Africa hybrid that included an Angelique Kidjo feature on the traditionalized Shekere which just got treated to yet another Ovie Etseyatse directed video and also serves as the 7th video release from the album.

The track’s title and its feature speak volumes as expectations rise with each indication of its direction. While its audio was enough justification, the colorful video surpasses expectations.

The video which leans on Yemi Alade, Ovie Etseyatse, and Taiye Aliu’s creative strengths is a culture fest that begins with the appraisal of the Shekere, Angelique’s Benin roots which she swaps for an appreciation of the Zulu culture in the video and the Maasai tribe among others. The Wombo Lombo reference also contributes to the positivity of the song.
