Alpha Ojini recruits Odumodublvck for Hard New Single, ‘Vigilante Bop’

Nigerian rapper and record producer Alpha Ojini has teamed up with Abuja-based self-acclaimed roadman Odumodublvck to deliver an iconic new single, Vigilante Bop. The 3-minute record is one that touches on social issues such as politics and election fraud, police brutality, the October 20th massacre at Lekki toll gate, the rise in fuel prices, and the current state of leadership in Nigeria or the lack thereof.

The Plug Entertainment distributed track is one that’ll have hip-hop heads in a chokehold with its infectious bars and wittiness. Alpha has come a long way since the release of his debut album Half Price in 2018 and Vigilante Bop is a testament to his skills as an MC and the growth of his pen game. Alpha also mixed and mastered the track for FOCUS Audio, a pro music mixing and mastering outfit registered in Nigeria.

“I no go shock if NNPC open mouth tell us 40k for 40 litres. If I had a chance I’ll decapitate all these niggas and still detain all their family sha,” Alpha raps. He’s addressing the current fuel crisis in the country. He’s saying he wouldn’t be surprised if the price of a litre of fuel rises up to a thousand naira per litre. “Nigeria police fit hold igbo for hand inside club, arrest you for smoking shisha,” he continues as he points out how hypocritical the Nigerian police can be.

“20-10-20, them think say we forget. 2023, you go collect,” Alpha spits. He’s referencing the October 20th events. “Abeg comot yansh for there, fuck your bag of rice, I no wan collect. See them for saloon, don dey wash your head,” he raps further as he cites the common practice of election fraud by popular political parties in the country. However, he’s optimistic that things will be different in the coming elections.

“Imagine, olopa get mind to ask me anything for weekend. Me, I just lock up. He chook hand for my pocket. He see chewing gum, he chop am. These men dey fuck up. Them don see say wetin dey my wallet na my last card. So the bastard say make I transfer. The thunder wey go fire you still dey warm up,” Alpha raps on the last verse. With one of the most significant parts of the whole song, Alpha recounts his experience with a police officer. Alpha has described the experience as funny. “Funniest interaction I’ve had with the Nigerian police. At least this one was funny,” he says in an Instagram post.

Vigilante Bop is Alpha’s 3rd single this year, following The Coin featuring Phlow and Teck Zilla, and Two Horns featuring Boogey, Kel and A-Q both released in April.
