Listen to ‘The Beginning,’ Asa’s Pleasant Comeback Single

When Asa teased her comeback last week with a small but engaging snippet of her comeback single, The Beginning, she raised our hopes and of course raised a lot of questions about what direction she will be heading after years away from the music scene. The self-explanatory title served as enough indication that she will explore evolution on the track and just as promised, she delivered today with not only the single but a video to match the metamorphosis she sings of.

Undeniably, Asa has soundtracked a lot of our emotions: good, bad and raging for the past decade with sonorous and lulling Songs from Fire on the Mountain to Awe. She has touched on the mysteries of life and the imbalance in our society. She has also gone in the direction of tragic relationships which she does now but only a number of these tracks can contend with the outpour of raw emotions that features heavily in The Beginning.

Pensive in intention and pleasant in sound, The Beginning is not just a refresher but a bridge that connects the old and new for not only Asa, but her listeners and general audience. She has said nothing about her plans for her future in the industry but if this track is as paradoxical as some of her previous releases, then we should expect to see more of her in a new light.
