Rewriting the script and going against the norm of what music videos look like today, U.K based artist Banditsu and R&B singer Taliwhoah unite and draw inspiration from 1987 punk film Sid and Nancy in their Selfish video.
The video makes an attempt at portraying human nature and toxic relationships with shots of domestic violence, fights and the types of alcohol infused arguments that characterise harmful alliances.
Banditsu who credits punk for transforming youth culture in the UK chose to appreciate the genre’s influence by collaborating with UK rock’n’roll inspired brand, Underground shoes. Banditsu goes beyond lyrics to connect the audience to the message and creates a cinematic experience and ultimately, a video that should inspire conversation about pain and vulnerability and the role it plays in art and music.
