Singer, Barry Jhay has released a statement and police report on his alleged involvement in the death of his label boss, Babatunde Michael Balogun AKA Kashy.
Rumours circulated social media and local blogs about Ghana police detaining Barry Jhay in the midnight of Sunday 7th March 2021 for allegedly being directly involved in a complicated case of murder/suicide of Kashy. Moments after news of the latter’s death broke, a video of Barry Jhay’s blooded face, ranting about being beat up by the deceased started to make the rounds on social media, triggering allegations of the musician’s involvement in the death of his label boss which happened minutes after he made the video.

An altercation broke out between the deceased Kashy and his artiste, Barry Jhay when the latter attempted to mediate between the deceased and his girlfriend who had “suddenly rushed into the recording room, panicking and reported to” Barry Jhay and the Ghanaian producer who made he was working with that Kashy was “behaving abnormally”, accordingly to the statement released by BarryJhay. The singer “came out to see what was happening, met the deceased and approached him to ascertain what the matter was and to his utmost surprise, the deceased rather became more violent and attacked him instead. Realizing his life was in danger, he ran downstairs, contacted security personnel’s on ground and left the building.”
According to the report released by the Ghanaian Police and corroborated by footages captured by security cameras, “Barry Jhay had run away from the apartment and crossed the road at exactly 12:41 AM when the deceased who committed suicide threw himself from the fourth floor at exactly 12:53 AM.”
The police say that the evidence provided is enough to absolve the singer of any allegations of involvement in Kashy’s death.
