Last August, Abimbola Elijah, commonly called Bayanni, was introduced to the world as Mavin Records’ latest signing. What followed was a debut, eponymous four-track EP, among which was the song Ta Ta Ta.
The song, which mimics the sound made during bedroom intimacy, was moderately successful upon its release. However, it reemerged as a hit at the beginning of 2023, soundtracking many TikTok videos.
Wanting to capitalise on the song’s sudden success, Bayanni teams up with American pop artist Jason Derulo for the remix. Like the original version, this remix is produced by Prestige.
It’s not the first time Derulo is sharing the stage with a Nigerian artist. Last year he was in Ayo Girl, a song by the New Zealander Robinson which also featured Rema.
With this remix Bayanni continues to establish himself as one of the country’s most talented young pop acts. It’s a fact acknowledged by Spotify, who named him on their 2023 list of emerging artists.
