Leader of Dangbana Republik and acclaimed artist at the forefront of Afro-pop’s new era, Bella Shmurda unveils his new single Loner. The melancholic track comes as the first release of the year, following the tulmultous end of 2023 where his dear friend and collaborator, Mohbad passed.
Dubbed “New Born Fela,” Shmurda weaves intricate stories that define him as an artist, and echo the shared experiences of a generation. Loner is an intimate track that not only touches on loss, but also perseverance, gratitude and honoring those dear to him. It begins with a vulnerable line “Everything’s been different since you left me…” a sentiment many feel at a point in their lives. Shmurda’s willingness to display his emotions and craft autobiographical lyrics has enabled him form a deeper connection to his listeners.
