Blackbird HQ Makes Comeback With “Do You Think About Me?”

Music trio, Blackbird H.Q, comprising Esbee the Songwriter, Femi Broadway, and Rhae98, has made a comeback to Nigeria’s Afropop scene with their third official single, Do You Think About Me marking their return from hiatus.

The song, recorded on a chilly night at the University of Benin, Ekehuan campus, and produced by Esbee the Songwriter, delves into the emotional state of missing a friend, relative, or lover and pondering whether they are even remembered.

Do You Think About Me begins with the captivating hook and chorus performed by Blackbird Entertainment Founder and frontman, Esbee the Songwriter. The transition to the first verse sees Femi Broadway seamlessly blending English and Yoruba lyrics with his velvety baritone vocals. Rhae98, the youngest member and Femi Broadway’s sibling, makes his debut with authentic and rugged energy in the second verse, complemented by a unique feature from the songwriter Jacob Hunter.

The song climaxes at the bridge, where Jacob Hunter, a vocal powerhouse known for his work on hit records like Ngozi by Crayon and Piano by Oxlade, delivers the final chorus, reiterating the central question: Do You Think About Me?

Originating from St. Finbarr’s College Akoka, the trio draws inspiration from groups like NSG and Mavin-All Stars, while bringing their own unique brand of entertainment.  The group was established in 2021 as part of the label’s strategy to merge their distinct songwriting and performing styles, creating a cross-pollination of their fan bases and those of other featured artists. Their music blends African percussions, pop synths, witty lyrics, cohesive songwriting, and unmatched energy, creating a captivating experience that immerses listeners in a range of emotions.
