In human history, tattoos have been around for a very long time, with the earliest evidence of them reaching back to 3370 BC, which is a very long time in comparison to other forms of art. However, in recent years, it has gained popularity among people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, particularly among young people. It encompasses more than just tattoos; it also includes piercings, tongue separating, stretching, and just about anything else you can imagine.

Piercings

Piercings are among the most frequent types of body mod, and they are also among the most easily removed. It is definitely the ideal one to start with if you are just getting your toes wet in the field of body mods because the holes will generally close up after you take out the jewelry.

Tattoos

The permanence of tattoos, barring extremely expensive and usually painful laser treatment, means that you should consider very carefully before getting your new lover’s moniker tattooed on your arm. It consists of the insertion of ink or pigment into the skin in order to create a permanent design. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, it is critical that you have it done by a qualified professional tattoo artist rather than having it done at home by someone who thinks they know what they are doing with an eBay kit. 

Other more exotic forms of body mods

Despite the fact that tattoos and piercings are the most frequent forms of body alteration, you will notice a variety of different types in your surroundings. A few of the more unusual procedures include ear gauges, which involve inserting a metal ring into the ear lobe with the intention of stretching it, transdermal and micro dermal implants, which involve implanting anchors for studs and spikes below the surface of the skin,  and even elves ears, which involve the cutting and stitching of ears into a pointed shape. There is also tongue splitting, which is literally what it says on the tin.

Experimenting with body mods is an excellent opportunity to express your more radical and distinctive side while also looking fantastic. However, because they are usually irreversible and will always leave a scar, you should think very carefully before undergoing any procedure that will affect your appearance for the rest of your life. Always make sure you get this type of treatment done at a reputable tattoo or piercing parlour and make sure you follow any aftercare instructions carefully to avoid infection.
