BOKO HARAM STRIKES AGAIN, KILLS 33 IN BORNO STATE

Members of the Boko Haram Islamist militant sect killed 33 villagers in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State earlier today, making the number of people killed in the state to 120 in the last four days.

According to residents in the area, the men came into Mafa town using Hilux Toyota vans armed with AK47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED’s ), Rocket Propelled Launchers, petrol bombs and opened fire on residents who were asleep, which led to at least 33 people being killed, with several injured, and property worth millions of Naira destroyed. The gunmen are reported to have had a field day in Mafa having overpowered the military personnel stationed in the Village.

The sect also ambushed and killed at least 14 policemen, who were on a mission to help civilians in one of the villages earlier attacked by Boko Haram militants last weekend.

A senator representing Borno , Khalifa Ahmed Zanna, has confirmed the casualties according to reports from the state. Eyewitnesses said soldiers stationed in the area fled their security positions as the militants arrived the area in a convoy of pick up vans.
