Susan Wokoma in Crazyhead
The award-winning actress who was just cast as a series regular in a new CBS romantic comedy series, Super Simple Love Story, a show about “unlikely couples”, is set to write and star in a BBC Films-backed Three Weeks—a rom-com drama about abortion.
Three Weeks is about a woman (Wokoma) who is dumped by her boyfriend. She rebounds into a new relationship only to find she is pregnant by her ex. She decides on abortion and, in the three-week wait for the procedure, has to figure out her life and identity.
In a recent interview, Wokoma made it clear her goal was to put black women at the forefront of everything through her writing.
Although there is no set date for the release of the movie, its entire premise is indeed timely in Hollywood following the anti-abortion laws that have been passed in several of US states this year.
